Goals to make Serve Like Jesus Disciples

To understand John 1:1, think of it in the context of Matthew 17. God spoke on that mountain like he did when Jesus was baptized. Again, God says he is pleased. This time, he adds something, "Listen to Him!” The God of the universe, the creator of all we see and can’t see is telling us to listen to Jesus. The brings us to the main point that we are taking from John’s Prologue.

 

We must listen to the one who pleases God to have the right to become the children of God. Why listen to Jesus? John gives us three reasons.

 

1. Jesus is the Creator, and Everything was Created for Him (3)

2. Jesus is the True Light (4-13)

3. Jesus has revealed the true nature of God (14-18)
